Live It Before You See It

Stop Wishing. Start Becoming.
What if the life you want isn’t waiting for better circumstances — but for a better mindset?
What if the gap between where you are and where you want to be isn’t talent, timing, or
opportunity…but belief?
This idea is very personal for me. For years, I set goals the way most of us do:
- I want to be healthier.
- I want to grow professionally.
- I want to be more present with my family.
- I want the business to thrive.
But in 2018, something shifted. I stopped wishing for a different future and started living
like the future version of myself already existed. I decided to stop waiting. Stop negotiating. Stop hoping. And start becoming. That decision changed everything.
IDENTITY BEFORE OUTCOME
I want to recommend three books that help shape transformation: Win the Day by Mark
Batterson, The Power to Change by Craig Groeschel, and Atomic Habits by James Clear.
Each reinforces a powerful truth: real change begins with identity.
Instead of focusing on the outcome — “I want to lose 50 pounds” — focus on identity: “I am becoming a healthy person.”
When belief shifts, behavior follows.
When identity shifts, habits align.
When mindset shifts, everything else becomes possible.
THE FUTURE-TENSE MINDSET
There’s a difference between: “I want to lose 50 pounds in one year.”
And: “It is December 2027, and I am down 50 pounds. I feel strong, disciplined, and energized.”
The first is a wish. The second is ownership.
When we speak from the future, we begin making decisions in the present.
In 2018, That mindset shift changed my health. It changed my career. It strengthened my
relationships. It impacted my family. One decision and the Ripple Effects were everywhere.
MINDSET AT WORK
The same principle applies in business.
Instead of saying:
“I hope this year goes well.”
“I hope we grow.”
“I hope I can handle this.”
What if we declared:
“It is the end of this year, and our team is operating at a new level of excellence.”
“Our clients consistently experience clarity, responsiveness, and trust.”
“I lead with confidence and integrity.”
At Searchlight, we’ve seen this ripple effect over the past year. Small mindset shifts —
choosing ownership, thinking like our customers, collaborating intentionally — have
created meaningful growth; personally, and professionally.
One small change in thinking leads to one small change in action.
One small action repeated consistently creates momentum.
Momentum changes culture.
THIS IS THE RALLY CRY
You don’t transform your life in a year.
You transform it in a decision — and then you reinforce that decision daily.
You don’t build excellence in a company by accident.
You build it by choosing ownership.
By choosing discipline.
By choosing collaboration.
By choosing to think bigger than your current results.
The future you want isn’t built someday.
It’s built today.
In how you speak.
In how you think.
In what you believe is possible.
Stop wishing.
Start declaring.
Start becoming.
Because the possibilities in front of you — and in front of us — are bigger than we think.
And growth begins the moment we decide to live it before we see it.
